expensive at this time so, believe me, your effort was really appreciated. You have some really
nice dogs and bitches at the top and quite a drop down to the also rans. Ringcraft can be greatly
improved. Having said these things, your show was a very happy affair. Decisions received
graciously, win or lose. I really enjoyed myself in your company and appreciated your humor which
I found to be a bonus. I think without exception you did too. But then isn’t this why we do it? I thank
you all for a lovely visit.”

“A nice brindle. His head is filling nicely. His eye and ear placement are correct. Smooth neck
onto good lay of shoulder. Well ribbed, level back. Tail carried low.”

“Similar to first but could only earn this position.”

“Good strong head. Level in back but straight in stifle. Would have prefered his nails to be
darker.”
 
Junior Dog:

“A very nice young dog. Good head of nice proportions, ears carried well. Has the eye we seek,
round and very dark. Clean smooth lipped good dentition. Good lay of shoulder, nicely ribbed.
Limbs straight tight feet toenails jet black. Well presented. He demanded Dog CC and Best In
Show and rightly got it.”

“Strong headed. Level backed, nicely tucked up. Legs straight, hind nicely angulated at stifle. Tail
carried low.”

Moved correctly.”

“Red/whi. Little long in head at the moment, but will fill out with maturity. Lovely black
pigmentation on muzzle, clean lips, however, inverted canine teeth. Sound in body and
limbs.”

“Bl/bri/whi. Shapely head of width and depth. Dark round eyes, neat ears. Clean muzzle,
correct scissor bite. Level topline, spring to the ribcage, tucked up at the loins. Straight
front muscular hindquarters. Moved with drive on thickly padded tight feet. Took first
with a better definition of head and body.”
2nd Rojeme Molly Mandy
“Bl/bri/whi. At this stage of development not quite as mature as first placed,
nevertheless has all the qualities to mature into a very useful bitch. Neat ears, would
have preferred a slightly darker eye. Clean muzzle, correct bite. Excellent breed type
expression. Sound in body, straight front, muscular hindquarters. Thickly padded feet.”
3rd Rojeme Miss Marple
“Bri/whi. Smart looking bitch. At this stage not quite as mature as the two in front. Got
everything going for her except in the teeth - unfortunately, inverted canine teeth.
Shapely head, dark expressive eyes, neat ears. Sound in body and limbs. Moved with
drive.”

“Bri/whi. A good class to win. Strong shapely deep through head, without exaggeration.
Neat rose ears, dark round expressive eyes, defined muzzle, clean lip, correct bite.
Balanced throughout, level topline. A good tuck up at the loins accentuated the contour
between rib and waist. Straight fore limbs, correct layback in the shoulders. Muscular
hindquarters. Moved with style on tight thickly padded feet. Handled to best advantage.
Excellent bitch which I was pleased to award the CC.”
2nd Ch Rojeme Lady Luck
“Red. Of standard size. Head of width and depth, clean muzzle, correct bite. Rose ears,
round dark eyes. Good breed type expression. Short neck, overall of excellent breed
type. Short neck, spring of rib, level topline, straight front, turn of stifle at the hind.
Preferred the balance of third placed.”

“Bl/bri/whi. Strong head, clean muzzle and correct bite. Rose ears, dark round eyes.
Level topline, straight front, muscled hindquarters. Would have preferred seen a little
more daylight under the fore-legs - nevertheless, moved with drive on thickly padded

“Bri/whi. Strong shapely head of width and depth, powerful and clean defined muzzle,
clean lips, correct scissor bite. Dark round expressive eyes, rose ears. Excellent
breed type expression. Short neck, level topline, spring of rib. Correct straight front,
muscled hindquarters. Moved and handled to good advantage.”
2nd Bolsover Challenge Me
“Red/whi. My notes say " a little less bread pudding". Strong head, defined muzzle,
correct bite. Level topline. Adequate spring of ribs. Straight front, correct lay of
shoulder blade, turn of stifle at the hind. Move with drive and ambition.”
3rd British Pride The Referee
“Bl/bri/whi. Another nice looking dog - strong head, defined clean muzzle. Not too happy
with the bite. Neat ear carriage, dark round expressive eyes. Short neck, level topline,
closely coupled. Fore and hind limbs sound. Moved with drive and economy.”

“Bri/whi. First impression - the exhibit was in good condition. Strong head - wide skull,
clean muzzle, tight lip, correct scissor bite. Rose ears, dark eyes. Short powerful neck,
level back, spring to the ribs, tucked up at the loins. Straight front up on the pasterns.
Sound hindquarters. Tight feet, thick pads. Moved with drive. A little harder condition
than second placed, also tighter in feet.”
2nd Ch Challenger Bitter Sweet
“Bri/whi. Skull of width and depth - no exaggeration - markings to head could be
deceptive unless looked at with care. Rose ears, dark round eyes. Clean muzzle and
tight lips, correct bite. Good breed type expression. Moved economically on sound
limbs. Preferred her balance to third placed.”
3rd Oakstaff Miss Bojangles
“Bl/bri. Quite a smart little bitch - very clean in outline. Shapely head, clean muzzle,
correct bite. Level topline, spring of rib. Straight front, turn of stifle at the hind. Moved
smartly.”

Veteran Bitch:

“Red. Eight year old of excellent breed type, beautifully balanced throughout. Strong
head of substance. Clean defined muzzle with tight lips, correct bite. Neat rose ears,
dark round expressive eyes. topline level, tucked up at the loins. Straight front,
muscular hind quarters. Really good tight thickly padded feet. Moved effortlessly with
drive. Pressed hard in the final line up for the top spot.”
2nd Ch Gateshead Caracalla
“Bri/whi. 11 year old who appeared to still enjoy being exhibited. Strong head, clean
muzzle. Neat ears, dark eyes with a typical SBT expression. Sound in body, straight
front, sound hindquarters. Moved and handled with experience - that is to say both
handler and dog.”
3rd Ch Catuvellauni Boudicca
“Bri/whi. 14 year old - what a pleasure to go over such a lovely old champion. She gave
it all her best shots - seemed to enjoy it back in the ring. Shapely head, clean muzzle,
neat rose ears. dark round eyes. She remains good in body, with sound limbs -
although she probably has a twinge of arthritis. Moved with determination. Thank you to
all the owners for bringing me their veterans to judge.”

correct scissor bite. Neatly carried ears, dark eye. Excellent breed type expression.
Short powerful neck widening at the shoulders, level topline, tuck-up at the loins.
Straight front, powerful hams at the hind. Feet tight and thickly padded. Gave the
appearance of animation - even when motionless. Moved with effortless drive. Took first
place from second by virtue of a cleaner outline and tighter feet. Fully deserving of the
ResCC.”
2nd Tykabul Pride And Joy
“Bri. Another first class bitch. Strong head, definition of stop, clean lips, correct bite.
Dark eyes, rose ears. Short neck, sound body with a spring of rib. Clean straight front,
turn of stifle at the hind. Moved with purpose. Took second pace from third with better
ear carriage. Strong in body. Correct straight front, turn of stifle at the hind.”
3rd Rockstock Red Arizona
“Red/whi. Beautifully balanced dog. Head of strength, defined clean muzzle, good bite.
Dark round eyes, ears a little untidy. Of good breed type. Spring of rib, deep in brisket.
Tucked up at the loins. Sound limbs front and hind. Moved with drive.”

“Thank you very much to the Officers and Committee of the Northern Staffordshire Bull
Terrier Club for inviting me to judge in New Zealand. Both Barbara and myself were
made very welcome and we both enjoyed the night out we all had after the Show.
Thanks to my Steward, Karen, for keeping everything in order so I could continue with
the job in hand.
Thanks to all exhibitors for a nice entry and hopefully accepting my decisions and
constructive criticisms.
There were a few problems today that need to be looked at. Some with untidy mouths,
with one or on some occasions two canines inverted. Extra large heads with thick lips,
over loaded shoulders and heavy fronts, extra length of body and carrying far too much
excessive weight does not help to the overall balance and movement of the dog.”
