| Well another year has gone by, bringing with it new dog laws. To all of us this was unnecessary but unstoppable. Unfortunately the Government does not listen to the little people, henceforth bringing in Breed Specific Legislation of which you are all aware of by now. Let’s hope this doesn’t bring with it a lot of heartache for responsible dog owners. 2003 saw a total of 10 new Champions, so well done to you all - it is a great achievement for our breed. Staffords are doing well at all levels in the All Breeds show ring taking out many Best of Groups and a few In Show Awards as well. We are lucky to have had a number of new imports coming into New Zealand from Australia over the last 12 months. I am sure 2004 will see a few more. The three Stafford Specialty Shows saw three different dogs taking the number one spot. Best In Show at the Northern SBT Club with Mr Mike Homan (UK) went to Gr Ch Challenger Hannibal Lector, who has also won the Pedigree National and the NSBTC 2003 Pointscore Competitions. Reserve Best In Show went to a Junior dog, Bigblock Slim Shady. Mr Walter Bore (Aus) judged at the Southern Cross SBT Society and saw his Best In Show in Highbourne Triple Crown (Aus Imp), also a Junior. His Reserve Best In Show went to Oakstaff Bouquet. The Northern SBT Club also had a second Championship Show in November 2003 with Tony Moore, also of the UK, judging. His Best In Show went to Warfare Daddy's Warrior and his Reserve Best In show to Westbred White Knight (Aus Imp). 2004 will be another good one for Specialty Shows with Juanita Crawford of South Africa judging at the Terrier Club Championship Show in conjunction with the Northern SBT Club’s Championship Show with Paul Stanway of the UK officiating. We are expecting a great entry for these two shows and I look forward to reporting the results in the 2004 issue of Stafford World. The Southern Cross SBT Society welcome Billy McKnight of the UK who will be judging their 2004 Championship Show. This should also be a well attended show and I will also look forward to publishing these results. |
